The Roskilde festival of 2001 marked both the 30 years of Europe´s largest music festival, with Woodstock (1969) as it´s role model, and the one year since the tragic events at Pearl Jam´s concert. After 29 years with no major accidents, 8 people, trampled under the crowds in wet and muddy conditions, lost their lives during the 2000 festival. Safety and security were modified, a larger stage was added, and the yearly event continued, this time with better weather conditions.
